More forged notes in circulation
The amount of forged euro notes seized in the Netherlands last year was up 30% on 2007, according to central bank figures.
Last year, 32,028 fake notes were found. In total, up to 400 million euro notes are in circulation.
Fifty euro notes are the most popular with forgers.
In Europe as a whole, the number of forged notes discovered was up 17%.
