Magazine sales rose 7% last year

Magazine production in the Netherlands rose almost 7% over the past 10 years, according to the latest media commission report, the Telegraaf said on Friday.

In 1999, there were 174 registered magazine titles in the country and this has now risen to 249.
Sponsored magazines such as Albert Heijn’s Allerhande, account for the bulk of the increase, the commission said.
The biggest-circulation magazine in the country is Kampioen, the magazine for members of the motoring organisation ANWB, which has a circulation of 3.5 million.
Sales of news magazines are down slightly, although Elsevier has increased its market share, the report showed.
