Telegraaf will not bid for NRC

The Telegraaf Media Group will not bid for the Rotterdam afternoon newspaper NRC Handelsblad when it is put up for sale, the Volkskrant reports on Monday.
The NRC is part of the PCM newspaper group which has been taken over by Belgian publishing company Persgroep.
'PCM and the Persgroep want the highest price for the NRC... but you cannot expect us to help them achieve that,' TMG director Frank Volmer told the paper.
Investment company HAL, which owns the Financieele Dagblad, is also interested in the NRC but talks are proceeding with difficulty, the Volkskrant says.
