Five terrorism suspects released

Five of the seven people arrested on Thursday suspected of involvement with a terrorist threat in Amsterdam-Zuid-Oost have been released, said the public prosecution service on Friday afternoon.


According to the prosecution department one of the two people still being held does not have any connection with yesterday’s events but is being detained on other charges, reports ANP news service. No further details were given.
Parts of Amsterdam Zuid-Oost were cordonned off on Thursday after police received a warning that explosives were to be placed in three local shops, including Ikea and Mediamarkt. No explosives were found at the homes of those arrested.
