Victims want €1m in HIV injection case

Three men found guilty of deliberately infecting 14 men with the HIV virus face a €1m damages claim from their victims, NOS tv reports on Tuesday.

A Groningen court sentenced the three to nine and five years and 18 months in prison late last year for injecting HIV-infected blood into their victims during gay sex parties.
However the judge said it was impossible to prove that the victims had become HIV infected as a result of their action.
But in the civil case, the victims can ask for the defendants to prove that they were not responsible for giving them HIV, NOS says.
The case starts on Wednesday.
