Pim Fortuyn's possessions to be auctioned

Supporters of the murdered right-wing politician Pim Fortuyn are angry that his personal possessions are to be auctioned off by the insurance company which bought his Rotterdam home, reports ANP news service.

They claim that the new owners were allowed to buy the listed building in 2007 on condition that they kept the interior of the house and its contents exactly as they were on the day Fortuyn was murdered in 2002.

But the house’s owners say that they need to sell off the politician’s possessions to stay in business.

Clients of the insurance firm now housed on the G.W. Burgerplein are given a certificate to show they have contributed to keeping Fortuyn’s home intact and are entitled to a tour of the building. But it seems interest has not been as high as expected.
