Dutch may face €200m EU subsidy bill

The Netherlands could face a financial setback of €193m as a result of errors with European Union subsidies, says the national audit office in a report on Thursday.

Holland will probably have to pay back €155m received between 2000 and 2006 for regional development and refund around €48m for value-added tax which was declared twice on EU projects, the report says.
The Netherlands paid €6.3bn to the EU in 2007 and received €1.9bn back in subsidies, making it the third largest net contributor after Germany and Britain, according to the audit office.
