Policeman injured stopping suicide attempt

A policeman was seriously injured on Sunday after trying to stop a 28-year-old man committing suicide by jumping under a train at Driebergen Zeist station, according to media reports.


The police officer is thought to have been stabbed by the man after he tried to hold him back. Eye-witnesses say the man trying to commit suicide had a knife.
The police officer underwent emergency surgery on Sunday night.
In 2007, 193 people killed themselves by jumping under trains in the Netherlands.
