Delta Lloyd wants Fortis insurance: paper

Delta Lloyd is in talks with the Dutch government to take over parts of the nationalised Fortis, reports Thursday’s Telegraaf.

The insurance company is interested in the Dutch insurance arm of Fortis and in Fortis Investments, the paper says.
Delta Lloyd, which has not had any government support so far, says the expansion is necessary to its survival.
Sources told the Telegraaf that two other parties are also in the running.
Finance minister Wouter Bos said in October that he wanted to sell the insurance activities of the nationalised Fortis and ABN Amro as soon as possible.
Delta Lloyd already has a 51% interest in ABN Amro Insurance.
