‘Decoy house’ is immediate success

Police in The Hague booked immediate success when they set up a ‘decoy house’ to help them fight break-ins, reports Thursday’s AD.

Within an hour of fitting the house with cameras and valuables, the alarm went off.
Six thieves, who forced the door and then made off with mobile phones and cash, were caught on the cameras, says the paper.
The police have arrested five 16 and 17-year-old local youngsters and are still looking for the sixth.
Decoy lorry
Meanwhile police in Eindhoven caught six local men red-handed when they broke into a ‘decoy’ lorry to get at its contents, reports the Telegraaf. The lorry was left on a car park along the A58 near Tilburg and kept under surveillance.
When the men found the lorry was empty, they tried to escape but were arrested. Police later found that the van they had with them was registered to a well-known thief, says the paper.
The latest arrests bring to 40 the number caught with the ‘decoy’ lorry in 2008.
