Child threatens prime minister online

Wednesday 05 November 2008

A 10-year-old boy from the village of Rijssen has had his computer confiscated by police for threatening prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende, local newspaper TC Tubantia reports on Wednesday.

The boy left the message 'kick Jan Peter Balkenende's ugly head off' on the prime minister’s page of the Hyves social networking site.

Strictly speaking, that is not a threat. It's an incitement to violence.
Will the young lad be told to report to jail? That's okay then, as he doesn't have to go. Apparently, jail time is voluntary in the Netherlands.

I wonder what kind of parents are raising this kid?

The kind of parents who are sick and tired of four Balkenellende cabinets, but who forgot to warn their child that this paranoid government will do virtually anything to suppress criticism of any kind, even going so far as to confiscate a child's computer for a stupid remark, as it consitutes a 'threat' to our arsehole of a prime minister. I'm hiding my computer now.
