Trams back on track in Amsterdam

Tram services are back to normal in Amsterdam on Friday after chaos last night when tram rails close to Central Station were found to have subsided.

Six of the 12 tram tracks serving the station were halted or diverted.
The subsidence was caused by work on the new north-south metro system.
There were similar problems with subsidence close to the RAI in the summer. And last month, several buildings had to be evacuated because of subsidence caused by work on the metro.
