Lung not breast cancer is biggest killer
Monday 29 September 2008
The number of breast cancer deaths in the Netherlands fell by 5% in 2007. This means lung cancer is now the main cause of women's deaths from cancer, says the national statistics office CBS on Monday.
Last year 3,180 women died from breast cancer. The death rate has fallen by 25% over the past 10 years.
First generation immigrants with a Turkish or Moroccan background are least likely to develop breast cancer but their daughters have an increased risk, the CBS said.
