TNT shares rise on new takeover rumours

The share price of post and express delivery firm TNT rose almost 10% on the Amsterdam stock market on Wednesday morning on new rumours that private equity firm CVC Capital or FedEx of the US want to make a takeover bid for the company, reports the Financieele Dagblad.

None of the parties concerned would comment on the rumours or were unavailable, the paper said.
According to traders there is speculation that an offer of €30.25 per share for TNT is imminent.
Last week TNT top man Peter Bakker is reported to have told Dow Jones news service that the company can survive independently and that a takeover is a ‘not inevitabe’. But he declined to comment specifically on rumours that the company is in talks with FedEx.
