Sharp drop in bankruptcy rate

The number of bankruptcies fell to 32,000 in the first six months of this year, a 22% drop on the 2007 first half, says the national statistics office CBS.

Bankruptcies among private individuals and one-man firms were down 36%. The CBS says changes to bankruptcy law and economic growth are behind the reduction.
Manufacturing and catering-related companies are least likely to go bankrupt, says the CBS.
