Referee suspended for insulting player

Premier league referee Jack van Hulten is to appeal against a three match suspension order placed on him by the country’s football association KNVB for swearing at a player.


The alleged offence took place during the match between VVV Venlo and Eindhoven’s PSV on July 30.
Van Hulten denies calling PSV’s Ibrahim Afellay a ‘typhoid dog’, claiming instead he was misheard. According to Elsevier magazineVan Hulten is ‘deeply hurt and disappointed’ by the ruling.
