Reported crime rate stable

Dutch police registered 1.2 million crimes last year, almost the same as in 2006, the national statistics office CBS said on Monday.

More than half the reported crime involved theft. The biggest increase was in pick-pocketing – reports were up 19%.
Last year Amsterdam overtook Utrecht as the city with most reported crimes – 170 per 1,000 residents, the CBS said.
