A 55-year-old German national with previous convictions for sexual assault has been jailed for 10 years for the kidnapping and rape of a 14-year-old school girl from Tweede Exloërmond in 2007.

The rapist knocked the girl from her bike and dragged her into his car, news agency ANP reports. An eyewitness alerted the police after seeing the girl struggle and scream as the car drove past.
The victim was a friend of Suzanne Wisman, who was raped and murdered in a similar attack in 2006. Her killer was given a 30-year sentence earlier this year.
