Full honours at shot policewoman’s funeral

The policewoman shot dead in Amstelveen last week was buried on Thursday with full police honours.


Hundreds of police officers formed a guard of honour as the body of the 28-year-old was carried in a horse-drawn funeral carriage through Amstelveen. Flags flew at half mast on police stations throughout the Netherlands.
Home affairs minister Guusje ter Horst and Amsterdam police chief Bernard Welten were among the mourners. Amstelveen mayor Jan van Zanen spoke at the funeral
Gabriƫlle Cevat was shot dead on Wednesday night when she approached a motorists who had been driving erratically. She was in plain clothes on her way to work.
