Amsterdam won’t act on magic mushrooms

Amsterdam city council will not take any steps to regulate the sale of hallucinogenic mushrooms in an effort to head off a nationwide ban, news agency ANP reports on Friday.

Smart shop VLOS had urged the council to take steps, saying a total ban is ‘unrealistic’.
Last year, the city’s mayor Job Cohen called for the introduction of a waiting period of three days before tourists can buy mushrooms. However a majority of MPs want a total ban.
