Air France-KLM pulls out of Alitalia bid

Air France-KLM has withdrawn its bid for Italian flag carrier Alitalia, saying it is ‘no longer valid’.

The company said in a statement that the Italian company had not given any clarity on the legal situation surround the bid after breaking off talks a month ago.
Air France-KLM had made a €139m offer for Alitalia. The plan included some 2,120 job losses and was opposed by the unions and new prime minister Silvio Berlusconi.
