No charges over gorilla escape

Rotterdam’s Blijdorp zoo will not be prosecuted for last year’s escape by silverback gorilla Bokito, a court ruled on Tuesday.

The complaint was brought by a family who witnessed the escape and claims to be traumatised.

The court said no-one could have expected the gorilla to leap across the moat and attack a woman and the zoo had taken measures to prevent it happening again.
