Aegon hit by weak dollar

Thursday 06 March 2008

Financial services group Aegon booked net profit of €648m in the final quarter of 2007, down 26% on the year-earlier figure.

The company said currency effects were largely to blame for the decline. Aegon books some two-thirds of earnings in the US.

For 2007 as a whole, net income fell 20% to €2.55bn.
