A team of investigators from the Dutch public prosecution department has arrived in Jamaica to begin a probe into a controversial donation from the Netherlands-registered oil firm Trafigura to a Jamaican political party, local media report.

The investigators are due to meet Jamaican prime minister Bruce Golding and other political leaders, the Jamaican Observer said on Wednesday.
The scandal over the payment of almost $500,000 last year to the then-governing People’s National Party led to the resignation of a cabinet minister.
Trafigura, which says it has done nothing wrong, has had a contract with the state-owned Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica to handle its shipment and sale of crude oil on the world markets for more than a decade.
