Anne Frank tree gets 10-year reprieve

The horse chestnut tree which Anne Frank wrote about in her World War II diaries has been given a five to 10 year reprieve despite its diseased state, news agency ANP reports.

Supporters will now begin raising the tens of thousands of euros for a steel support system to make sure the tree stays upright.
The decision not to cut down the tree immediately was taken after talks between the city council, local residents, tree experts and the Anne Frank foundation.
