Amsterdam plans mega stadium
Monday 07 January 2008
Amsterdam city council wants to build a new stadium with capacity for 80,000 people in order to boost its bid to host the football World Cup in 2018 or the 2028 Olympics, council executive Carolien Gehrels confirmed to news agency ANP.
The stadium would be built on land reclaimed from the IJmeer lake between the city and Almere. The council is to carry out a serious study of the plans this year.
