TNT ends German post market investment

TNT is to stop investing in the German postal market because of the threatened introduction of a minimum wage for delivery workers.

The minimum pay rate of €8 to €9.80 an hour is ‘pure protectionism’, the paper quotes TNT CEO Peter Bakker as saying.
A proposed alliance with German package delivery group Hermes Logistik has been put on ice, the Volkskrant reports.
TNT Post would have been the first foreign party on the German market which is set to be fully liberalised on January 1.
