Some 2.5 million real and 500,000 artificial Christmas trees are expected to be sold this month, according to a survey by the gardening sector board.

Consumers’ ideal Christmas tree is 1.5 metres high and they expect to pay an average of €18 for a real tree and €46 for an artificial one, says the board. Some 40% plan to buy their tree at a garden centre.
