Casino, postcode lottery criticised

Justice minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin has criticised the state-owned postcode lottery organisation for taking out full page adverts in the national press to promote its special health insurance deal for members, the NRC Handelsblad reports.

Hirsch Ballin said the advert is obviously designed to attract new members, which is against postcode lottery rules.
The minister also criticised a Holland Casino promotion which offers gamblers their entrance money back in chips. This too breaks gambling guidelines, the minister said.
The Dutch state has a hotly-contested monopoly on gambling, arguing this is the only way to keep out organised crime and reduce addiction.
