Alcohol checks on violent crime
Tuesday 06 November 2007
People arrested for violent crimes should automatically be breathalysed, home affairs minister Guusje ter Horst said on Monday evening.
Ter Hoorst made the comments in the Noord-Holland town of Enkhuizen on Monday night during a meeting on tackling teenage drinking.
Research in Enkhuizen and nearby towns shows that 25% of 10 to 15-year-olds drink and 9% of 13-year-olds had been drunk over the previous four weeks.
The cabinet is currently preparing a series of measures to cut teenage drinking.
