In a surprise move, PSV trainer Ronald Koeman is to leave the Eindhoven football club to become coach of the top Spanish team Valencia.

The news, carried in the Spanish media, is due to be confimed this evening at a press conference in Eindhoven.
Koeman, who has managed a string of Dutch clubs and Benfica of Portugal, will tave over immediately at Valencia. The Spanish team sacked their previous manager Quique Sanchez Flores earlier this week after a series of poor results in the national premier division.
Relations between the PSV board and Koeman have been strained since the club tried to get rid of him towards the end of last season after PSV suffered a slump.
Recently Koeman said he would not be staying at PSV after his contract ran out as they have no chance of winning the European Champions League. To do that you need to be at a top English or Spanish club, he said.
Koeman pulled PSV back together last season and won the league championship on the last day. PSV currently top the Dutch league. Valencia are fourth in Spain. PSV have so far fared better than Valencia in the Champions League
