Provinces want limit to foreign rubbish

Maximum limits are needed on the amount of foreign waste brought into the Netherlands for burning, provincial councils have told environment minister Jacqueline Cramer, according to news agency ANP.

The call follows news that the waste disposal sector plans to import massive amounts of Italian waste into Rotterdam because it is cheaper than disposing of it at home.
The councils also say capacity for burning waste is already insufficient to cope with domestic demand.
