Spyker may sell Formula 1 team

Racing car maker Spyker is considering selling off its Formula 1 racing team, reports ANP news service. Because he is thinking about bidding for the team, company chairman Michiel Mol has stepped down from Spyker.

Several parties have expressed interest in the Spyker racing team and the management is now looking into the various offers, the company said.
Although Spyker booked its first profit last year, poor financial performance of the racing team and production has pushed the company into the red this year, says ANP.
The full or partial sale of its Formula 1 team is just one of the options the company is considering Spyker said on Tuesday.
Spyker was launched on the stock exchange in 2004 with a value of €15.50 per share. Shares reached a high point at the beginning of this year trading at €21 but production problems and rumours of financial difficulties led to a free fall.
Yesterday Spyker shares closed 2.6% lower at €5.65 shortly after the announcement of Mol’s departure, reports ANP.
