Albers removed from Spyker racing team

Dutch luxury sports car maker Spyker has removed formula 1 driver Christijan Albers from its active racing team, the company confirmed on Tuesday. The move has been expected for some time, said news agency ANP.

Spyker formula one director Michiel Mol said that putting Albers (28) on non-active was ‘very regrettable but purely a business decision’. On Monday it became clear that Albers could not meet his financial obligations to the racing team.
He has booked disappointing results and will now not take part in the Spa-Francorchamps tests on Wednesday. Albers will remain part of the Spyker team but will not take part in races.
