No increase in Fortis bid for ABN Amro

Fortis does not plan to increase its joint €71bn takeover bid for ABN Amro, chairman Jean-Paul Votron is quoted as saying in French paper La Tribune.

Voltron told the paper it would be ‘difficult’ to beat the consortium’s bid, in particular because it is a 79% cash offer. The offer reflected the value of ABN Amro and ‘we will not increase it,’ he was reported as saying.
