Very heavy rush hour traffic reported

Traffic during Friday’s morning rush hour is more than three times as heavy as normal with total jams of 180 kilometres at 8.30am, reported motoring organisation ANWB. The usual Friday morning traffic congestion is around 50 kilometres.

The extra traffic is due to rain and strong winds as well as an accident on the A16 earlier this morning which has caused widespread congestion around Rotterdam, an ANWB spokesman told news agency ANP.
