Software piracy cost Dutch companies $419m in lost sales last year, down from $596m in 2005, according to figures from the Business Software Alliance.

BSA Nederland chairman Jacco Brand said the drop was due to anti-piracy campaigns and changes in EU rules.
Nevertheless, some 29% of computers in the Netherlands were still operating on illegal software, Brand said.
