Schiphol airport says it needs sixth runway

Schiphol Airport insists it needs a sixth runway if it is to expand the number of flights handled to between 600,000 and 650,000 a year, according to a long-term vision published on Tuesday.

Schiphol expects passengers to grow to 85 million by 2025 and freight to 3.5 million tons. This compares with 48 million passengers and 1.5 million tons of freight in 2006.
