Market forces in public sector scrutinised

Economic affairs minister Maria van der Hoeven is to set up an investigation into the effect of market forces on the public sector.
In particular, the minister will look at the effect of market forces on working conditions and draw up a checklist of the pros and cons, BNR radio reported.
However, the minister has ruled out a moratorium on introducing market forces into the public sector pending the outcome of the investigation.
The health service and public transport are currently the focus of government efforts to increase the role of the market.
