Film director Rademakers dies

Film director Fons Rademakers has died in hospital in Gevena at the age of 86, ANP reported on Thursday.


Rademakers, the first Dutch director be nominated for an Oscar with Dorp aan de Rivier (Village on the River) in 1958, went on to win an Oscar for the film De Aanslag (The Assault) in 1987. His last film, The Rosegarden, was released in 1989.
