Film maker joined battle with Taliban

A formal investigation has begun into  how and why documentary film maker Vik Franke grabbed a gun and fired at Taliban fighters while on patrol with Dutch soldiers in Afghanistan.

Some 20 Taliban were killed and several civilians injured when the soldiers came under attack. Franke, who traveled in full battledress, says he filmed the attack until his camera battery went flat.
