Jury members and previous Nyenrode Challenges’ winners have a host of tips and insights to help you make the most of yourself in the different stages of the Nyenrode Master Challenge 2013.
First of all, remember that the first challenge is focused on you as a person and a potential Nyenrode student. Do not forget to showcase the fact you are a well-balanced person and to illustrate your capabilities by giving specific details and examples. Your unique personality and qualities are the most important features to incorporate into your essay.
The second challenge assesses how much you understand about Nyenrode and what it stands for. Participants are encouraged to learn as much as they can about the university so you can demonstrate how your personality fits that of a Nyenrodian.
The Grand Finale is your moment to shine. Remember to be engaging, creative and to tell a unique story. Prisca Metz, MSc in Management Challenge winner, says it is crucial to make sure you stand out.
‘When we were in the online environment, it became clear that the 100 selected participants came from all over the world. I had to make sure I was different. You need to ask yourself how you can make sure the jury remembers you in a positive way. I made a hand written presentation about myself with little text and drawings on cards that I showed while presenting myself.’
Small details can make a big difference throughout the challenge. During the Grand Finale, managing and controlling yourself is vital. Successful participants are those who stay calm, confident and in command. Remember that there is no right or wrong answer as long as you can demonstrate the rationale behind your argument.
Olga Liash, winner of a previous Nyenrode Challenge says understanding yourself is vital. ‘Knowing your strengths and showing your desire to become a part of Nyenrode are the key elements of success at this stage. If you are able to feel what it means to be Nyenrodian and show your value to the school, you will win the Challenge and become a Nyenrodian yourself.’
