Koninklijk
The title koninklijk or royal is awarded to a select group of Dutch companies and institutions which are at least 100 years old and considered to be of national importance. The title is bestowed by the monarch, but a gentle hint to the mayor or kings’ commissioner is enough to start the ball rolling. Around 150 companies in the Netherlands currently hold the title.
