A Dictionary of DutchnessDodenherdenkingDodenherdenking (remembering the dead) takes place every year on May 4, the eve of the anniversary of the signing of the German surrender in Wageningen on May 5 (Liberation Day) which marked the end of World War II. Those who died in all subsequent wars are honoured in memorial services and wreath-laying ceremonies across the Netherlands. The events culminate in a two-minute silence in the evening. |
