The Brainport Industries Campus near Eindhoven is to triple in size in an effort to attract more high tech companies to the region, according to an agreement signed by the city council and project developers SDK Vastgoed and Maja.

Companies such as ASML, Siemens, Ortec and KPN are already based on the campus, along with a number of start-ups and hbo colleges Avans Hogeschool and Fontys.

‘The business community and education will come together under one roof to work together on solutions for all kinds of social challenges,’ said Eindhoven’s development chief Stijn Steenbakkers at the signing ceremony.

The Brainport Industries Campus site covers a total of two hundred hectares, of which the largest part is still empty. If the city council approves the amended zoning plan, construction can start in 2025.

The other main Eindhoven innovation zone, High Tech Campus is owned by Singapore state fund GIC.
