Construction company BAM is being investigated over ‘potential irregularities’ at its international projects division, which is in the process of being wound up.

Officials from the tax office’s inspectorate FIOD and the public prosecution department raided BAM International’s offices in Gouda on Friday.

BAM said in a statement that the investigation related to a number of completed projects, adding that the company was ‘fully co-operating with the investigation’.

Bam International was set up by Royal Bam Group to bid for and carry out development projects outside western Europe, including roads in Dubai, an airport project in Tanzania, an LNG terminal in Panama and Unilever’s regional headquarters in Indonesia.

The parent company announced in July 2020 that it would wind up Bam International because of its poor outlook. All projects have been completed, Royal Bam Group said.
