The Feel at Home Fair returns to The Hague next month with a new location, new approach and an action-packed line up of clubs, societies and entertainment.

The latest edition of the Feel at Home Fair, back after a two year hiatus, is focused entirely on the community and, the organisers say, will strengthen the links between The Hague’s internationals and the city itself.

‘It is terrific to be back after two years,’ says Maureen Overdevest, manager of The Hague International Centre, which has taken over the organisation. ‘There is nothing like the Feel at Home Fair to highlight all the great things The Hague has on offer, so we’d urge everyone living in the region to come along and connect with the sport, social and community clubs.’

The fair has a new location as well – at the British School in the Netherlands, Junior School Vlaskamp. The set up includes include dedicated areas for sports, language, cultural and community activities, in association with Volunteer The Hague and ACCESS, a volunteer organisation which helps people both move to the Netherlands and settle in once they have arrived.

Diversity

‘We are happy to see an opportunity for the diverse and vibrant communities of The Hague to introduce themselves in person to the international community,’ says ACCESS director Deborah Valentine. ‘We have missed these moments.’

The fair will also have an area for performances and presentations and a dedicated children’s corner so that the kids are entertained while the adults meet friends old and new, network, and relax. And if you have recently relocated to The Hague, you will also be able to find out about the while range of leisure and cultural activities available in the region.

50 clubs

At least 50 clubs, societies and other organisations will be taking part – from theatre groups to singing societies and sports clubs. If you want to find a new school, learn Dutch or hook up with a group of like-minded people from back home, it will all be on offer at the fair.

‘The international community contributes greatly towards The Hague and the Netherlands in general,’ says Maureen. ‘Internationals are part of the local community as they volunteer at sport clubs and for social causes, join churches and organise social activities around the city. As an international city we cherish our international residents.’

The fair takes place on Sunday, November 6 from 11am to 5pm and tickets are free. Sign up here
