Lego fans who are also into art will soon be able to combine the two and hang their very own Starry Night on the wall.

The idea to recreate Vincent van Gogh’s masterpiece came from 25-year-old Truman Cheng from Hong Kong, who submitted the idea via the Lego Ideas platform, where fans can come up with suggestions for new kits.

In total, it takes 2,316 bricks to put together a 3D version of the work, painted in 1889 while Van Gogh was being treated in a psychiatric hospital in Provence, France. The original is now on show at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

The kit will cost €170 when it goes on sale at the start of next month.

In 2020, two Dutchmen launched a campaign to have bike lanes included in pre-printed Lego roads via the platform but without success.

Cargo bikes, an Amsterdam canal scene and a windmill are all currently featured on the ideas site, hoping for votes.
