Ajax confirms Alfred Schreuder is new head coach on two year deal
As expected, Alfred Schreuder has signed a two year deal to become new head coach at Amsterdam football club Ajax, replacing Eric ten Hag who is moving to Manchester United.
The contract, agreed between Ajax and Schreuder’s current club Brugge, includes an option for a third season.
Schreuder, a former Eredivisie player, was previously active as an assistant coach to Ten Hag, from January 2018 until 2019.
‘We know Alfred as a tactically strong coach … These last years he has gained experience as a head coach and as assistant coach at top clubs in various countries and competitions,’ said Ajax director Edwin van de Sar.
‘We have a lot of faith that he will continue to the path we have chosen at Ajax in recent years in both the Eredivisie and the Champions League.’

Schreuder described the move as a great opportunity. ‘But first I want to end the season with Club Brugge successfully,’ he said. ‘I want to say goodbye with a title. That is very important to me.’
