Rap artist Lil’ Kleine (27) will appear in court on Wednesday to hear if he will be remanded in custody over a charge of attempted aggravated assault, police have confirmed.

Jorik Scholten, the artist’s real name, was arrested at the weekend following a police report of the assault, thought to be on his girlfriend Jaime Vaes.

Images circulated on social media show Scholten dragging a woman out of a car by her hair and trapping her head in the car door but it is not clear if Scholten was arrested for this or another instance of abuse.

The arrest happened two days after the rapper was sentenced to 120 hours of community service for kicking a man at a nightclub.

Scholten was also arrested in Ibiza in May last year for the alleged abuse of his girlfriend but Vaes did not pursue the case at the time.

Management company Namam, which represents both Scholten and sometime presenter Vaes, has said it may not continue to represent Scholten.  But ‘if we do it will be under strict conditions’, the AD quotes Namam as saying.

Vaes has since shared a video on Instagram featuring herself, her son and Scholten, headed ‘Valentine’, the paper said.
